Please note that the name on the contract must match the name of the driver and on the credit card (used to pay for the rental). If this does not correspond, your booking is invalid and you have to pay again! Please note that at some companies a 2nd driver is included free of charge and that can be very convenient in case one of you doesn’t feel well or in case the driver also wants to have a glass of wine with his dinner now and then. Check in advance if everything is arranged properly so that you do not end up (at a moment that you are tired from the trip) buying additional insurances that are not necessary.
Example rental conditions Sunny Cars
Because Sunny Cars collaborates with different rental partners at a destination, the local rental conditions may vary per car. This includes costs for one-way renting, address delivery or accessories, but also the rules for, amongst other things, the guarantee and minimum age. When choosing a different car model, always check the specific conditions again under the headings ‘important rental information’, ‘address delivery / one-way rental / border crossing’ and ‘accessories’.

- Extra driver: 1 included. (this is definitely a big advantage, but does not apply to all rental companies) other additional drivers cost 5 Euro per day per driver. Any additional drivers must also present a driver’s license and passport when you picking up the car in order to be added to the rental contract.
- Snow chains: in this region it is mandatory to have snow chains (or winter tires) with you from November 15 to April 15. You rarely need them. This is included with most rental companies.
Flex service
More flexibility? Then this is the time to add the unique Flex service. This allows you to cancel your rental car up to 4 hours before the start of the rental. The Flex service costs 1 Euro per rental day (minimum 7 Euro and maximum 21 Euro) and needs to be added when booking the car. It is not possible to add this service afterwards. You can also search for cars that include a free extra driver, and/or the express service (fast pickup).
No credit card
If you don’t have a credit card, renting a car is very difficult. If that is the case at Sunny Cars you can choose for a Service package No Guarantee:
If you choose the service package no guarantee when renting a car at Sunny Cars, no deposit is required at the local car rental service. In accordance with Article 5 of the General Conditions of Sunny Cars International, this is paid by Sunny Cars to the local car rental service.
After making the reservation via a separate registration link, you confirm that if, after returning the rental car to the fleet provider, you, the rental company has reason to withhold all or part of this deposit (among others for instance traffic fines caused by you or other costs such as non-compliance with the agreed tank arrangement), you are obliged to reimburse this to Sunny Cars International, to the extent that Sunny Cars International is entitled to this amount based on Article 6 of its General Terms and Conditions.
IMPORTANT:
The following documents must be presented when picking up the car: ID card or passport and a recent telephone bill plus a return ticket (e-ticket is accepted). The date of the return ticket must correspond with the end of the rental period.
When booking online, you can choose between paying with a credit card that may also be in someone else’s name, or via IDEAL. Please be aware that you chose a car that does not have an excess, otherwise you will be obliged to pay it. This is independent of the fact that Sunny will reimburse your excess but that will be done afterwards.
Renting a car without credit card while staying at B&B Villa Lavanda:
We managed to rent a car for customers who did not have a credit card who assumed that they would be able to “arrange this” at the airport. That was not possible so they had to take a taxi from Gioia del Colle station. The local car rental service that we arranged came to collect these guests. They paid 35 Euro per day (2022) for a Ford Escort Station wagon with a an excess of only 200 euros. We were very happy with that. They could leave the car on Sunday morning and put the key in the mailbox. Even the transportation back to the station of Gioia del Colle again was arranged for them.
It was nice that we managed to hire a car for our guests. Luckily there was a car available, but as this is only a small company it is better to arrange it in advance with Sunny Cars or with us, so that you know for sure that you will have a car at your disposal.

If your plans change, you can cancel the reservation free of charge up to 4 hours before the start of the rental, thanks to this Flex service. Providing a reason is not necessary.
By booking early you have more choice. Especially if you are on holiday during the high season, or want a specific type of car such as a convertible, station wagon or minivan, this can make a big difference.
An early booking is therefore a very smart choice. You benefit from the wide selection that is available early in the season with the guarantee that you can always cancel your reservation.
